Do You Really Need Full-Service Luxury Wedding Planning?

Between $100k+ budget conversations, endless vendor emails, and the pressure of hosting a luxury California wedding that feels high-end and deeply personal, the newly-engaged glow can turn into planning burnout fast. Here's the truth about which planning tier actually fits your life.

Most of our clients come to The Ashlyn Company because they realize planning a luxury event is essentially a full-time job — and they already have one of those. The big question is usually: do we actually need a full-service planner, or can we get away with just a little help?

The reality of planning a luxury California wedding

Planning a wedding in California — especially in hotspots like Los Angeles, Orange County, or Montecito — comes with a specific set of challenges. When you're investing six figures, the stakes are higher. You aren't just booking a DJ or a caterer; you're building a production team.

From securing the perfect Mediterranean villa to navigating complex vendor contracts, the logistics get messy fast. Luxury isn't just about the flowers or the champagne tower — it's about the peace of mind that comes from knowing every detail is being handled by a pro.

Full Planning: the white-glove experience

If you want to be the visionary but not the project manager, our Full Planning package is the gold standard. This is for the couple who wants a dedicated partner from the very first "yes" to the final send-off.

  • Reduced decision fatigue. Instead of scrolling through 500 florists, we present you with 2 or 3 that are a perfect fit for your style and budget. You just pick the one you love.
  • Budget strategy. At the $100k+ level it's easy for costs to spiral. We provide proactive budget tracking so your investment goes exactly where it matters most.
  • Total time freedom. We handle the emails, the follow-ups, and the boring logistics. You just show up for the fun parts.

Our Full Planning package includes unlimited meetings and full vendor sourcing, so we're with you every step of the way.

Partial Planning: for the "I've started, but I'm stuck" couple

Maybe you've already booked your venue and photographer, but now you're looking at a 20-page to-do list and feeling the panic rise. That's where Partial Planning shines. We bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be — taking over the heavy lifting, sourcing your remaining vendors (up to five), and refining your design direction with a professional mood board. Perfect for the couple who wants to stay in the driver's seat but needs a seasoned navigator to handle the tricky turns.

Why "day-of coordination" isn't always enough

A common myth is that you can do everything yourself and just hire someone for the day of. In reality, for a high-end wedding with champagne towers, complex floor plans, and dozens of vendors, a one-day service often isn't enough to prevent the overwhelmed feeling during the months before.

We don't even offer a "day-of" service — we start at Month-Of Coordination. Why? Because your day requires at least four weeks of deep-diving into your details to catch red flags before they happen.

How to know which one you need

  1. How much free time do I have? If you're working 50+ hours a week, Full Planning isn't a luxury — it's a necessity for your mental health.
  2. Is design or logistics my biggest stressor? If you love the logistics but hate the aesthetics, Partial Planning helps you nail the refined atmosphere you're dreaming of.
  3. Do I want to manage people on my wedding day? If the answer is a hard no, having a team like ours (always a Lead plus at least one Associate) is the only way to go.
